Generic activity software treats a choir rehearsal like a calendar entry. A choir knows it's more complicated than that. We model Norwegian choir life with the right vocabulary — and we've built more of it than any other tool on the market.
Leave of absenceLeave of absence · Production leave
Taking leave isn't the same as leaving. We support both date-range leave (parental leave, a year of study) and production leave (I'm sitting out Mahler 2 but back in for the spring). RSVPs are set automatically; the attendance trend knows it's leave, not absence.
Production
All of choir life revolves around productions — from the first rehearsal, through sectional, piano dress, tutti and dress rehearsal, to the concert. We give each production its own timeline with the real terms: piano dress, tutti, dress rehearsal — not «meeting 1», «meeting 2».
Collaborators — per production
Soloists, guest conductor, project singer, guest instrumentalist. A choir has different collaborators per production, and they belong in the programme — not in the member list. Modelled the way they are — not as members or next of kin or «other».
Piece + edition
A piece isn't a stack of sheet music — it's the musical work. Each piece can have several editions: the Bärenreiter edition of Mozart's Requiem isn't the same as the Peters edition. Scores, MusicXML, practice audio and Spotify links hang on the edition, not on the piece.
Federation affiliation
Norges Korforbund, Ung i Kor, local county federations. We know what a federation affiliation is, and the member list can be exported when it is time to report. No parallel spreadsheet to maintain.
